Memberships

1. Categories of Membership

   The membership of the Association shall consist of the following categories:

   A. Ordinary Member

   An Ordinary Member shall meet the following criteria:

   1. Citizenship: Malaysian citizen

   2. Minimum Age: 18 years old

   3. Place of Residence: Residing in the State of Sabah

   4. Ethnicity: Bumiputera of Sabah

   5. Gender: Open to both male and female

   6. Religion: Open to all religions

   7. Additional Membership Criteria:

   • Members of the Central Committee must be Malaysian citizens who have resided continuously in the State of Sabah for a minimum of ten (10) consecutive years.

   • Ordinary Members must be individuals who are actively involved in Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) or related business activities.

   B. Associate Member

   Associate Membership shall be open to individuals who do not fully meet the criteria for Ordinary Membership, subject to approval by the Committee.

   C. Honorary Member

   Honorary Membership may be conferred upon individuals who have rendered significant service to the community or who are able to contribute meaningfully to the Association. Honorary Members shall be appointed by the Committee and shall be exempted from the payment of membership fees.

   D. Life Member

   Life Membership shall be open to Ordinary Members who choose to pay a one-time lifetime membership fee, as determined by the Association.

   E. Youth Member

   Youth Membership shall be open to individuals aged 18 years and below, subject to the following conditions:

   • Written consent must be obtained from a parent or legal guardian.

   • Youth Members shall not be eligible to vote or hold any office within the Association.

2. Application for Membership

   Every application for membership shall be proposed and seconded by existing members and submitted to the Secretary. The Secretary shall present the application to the Committee as soon as practicable for consideration. The Committee shall have the absolute discretion to approve or reject any application without assigning any reason.

3. Admission of Members

   An applicant whose membership application has been approved shall, upon payment of the prescribed entrance fee and first subscription, be admitted as a member of the Association with full effect.

Bank Details

1. Entrance Fee: RM 100.00 (Ringgit Malaysia One Hundred).

2. Annual Subscription Fee: RM 120.00 (Ringgit Malaysia One Hundred and Twenty) - The annual subscription fee shall be paid to the Treasurer within seven (7) days from the beginning of each year.

3. Life Membership Fee (payable upon application for membership): RM 1,000.00 (Ringgit Malaysia One Thousand).

   Note: Please make payment and upload the receipt of payment when applying for the membership.

Resignation and Termination of Membership

1. Resignation: Any member wishing to resign from the Association shall give written notice of at least two (2) weeks to the Secretary and shall settle all outstanding dues or liabilities owed to the Association prior to resignation.

2. Suspension and Expulsion: Any member who fails to comply with the rules and regulations of the Association or whose conduct is deemed prejudicial to the reputation or interests of the Association may be suspended or expelled for such period as the Committee considers appropriate. Before any suspension or expulsion is affected:

   • The member shall be informed in writing of the grounds for such action.

   • The member shall be given a reasonable opportunity to explain or defend himself or herself.

   The decision of the Committee to suspend or expel a member shall take effect unless and until it is deferred, overturned, or revoked by the General Meeting upon an appeal made by the affected member.
